The New York press is all in a tizzy because Alex Rodriguez -- who sat out Friday and Saturday -- was spotted tripping the light fantastic with Kate Hudson into the wee hours of Friday night/Saturday morning:
Was Alex Rodriguez out partying with actress Kate Hudson on the same night the Yankees sat him because of fatigue? The Palm Beach Post reported on Sunday that A-Rod and K-Hud were partying until 2:30 a.m. on Saturday morning in Miami Beach and left together in the back seat of a chauffeured German luxury car. Reached on Sunday by Newsday, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said: "I have no idea whether that's even accurate, so I wouldn't be able to comment on it."
Here's a comment: when your workday lasts from roughly 4pm-11pm like A-Rod's does, being out at 2:30am is the equivalent of you or me being out at 9pm or so. Why is this a big deal, especially given that it had already been announced that he wasn't playing on Saturday? I'd have a much bigger problem if he was spotted doing the hustle with his bum hip, but I'm guessing he just spent the evening sipping Courvoisier and lying to Hudson about how much he enjoys her films.
Oh, and if I see the term "K-Hud" again, I'm going to unhook my Internets and move to a fishing village in Newfoundland because that stuff's just wrong.

At first I laughed this off. But if you were sent home from work for 2 days by your boss due to fatigue... and were then seen at a bar at 9pm instead of resting up, your boss would have every right to be upset.
The time on the wall isn't important; it's that he was benched due to fatigue.
I guess it depends on the nature of that fatigue. Some things I'm reading this morning suggest that it's really more a matter of giving his hip some more rest, so I don't know if getting to bed early is the real consideration.
Isn't the better analogy one in which he's a cop given desk duty instead of walking the beat for some reason? I mean, it's not like he was barred entrance from work because he was slacking. He can't do Job A effectively, and Hobby B probably doesn't interfere with that. And hey, if it does: maybe the Yankees should bar his nightlife for the time being. I've not seen any indication of that happening, however.
Maybe the Yankees should set Jeter down for a couple of days as he is once again killing rally after rally by hitting into double plays.
He has been pretty consistent with hitting into double plays (leads team last three years).
Oh sorry, I forgot, he is a saint in Yankee Land.
First, remember this is Newsday, whose primary competition is Rupert Murdoch's gossip rag. I'm surprised they didn't tie A-Rod in with Octomom and figure out how to get quotes from Donald Trump and Bruno.
Second, they did this in Chicago in the mid-90s when Michael Jordan would be found playing cards the night before a game - front page of the Tribune - shock horror, someone who works until 10-11 pm stays up until 2 or 3 and sleeps until noon. If I recall correctly, he continued to play like Michael Jordan.

Oh jeez. The point of him posting is to look at how ridiculous the New York media is being. Craig even said he has a hard time caring. New Yorkers are all getting upset over a guy doing something that every other guy in the US does. I used to work second shift and staying up til 4 or 5 AM was normal for me. It never even remotely affected my job performance.

It just goes to show the 'character' of the man. Pumped with juice, lied about it, cheated on his wife, lied about, told employers he was hurt, lied about it. Does it ever stop?
