I don't know how White Sox fans feel about things, but those of us who don't care if they win or lose never, ever want Ozzie Guillen to be fired, because if he was, a true national treasure would be lost. Here's Guillen yesterday on the Sox' annual trek to Wrigley Field:
"But one thing about Wrigley Field, I puke every time I go there. That's just to be honest. And if Cub fans don't like the way I talk about Wrigley Field, it's just Wrigley Field. I don't say anything about the fans or anything now. But Wrigley Field, they got to respect my opinion. That's the way I feel."
I went to Wrigley Field and sat in the bleachers once, and I can tell you: Many Cubs fans puke when they go there too. Though it probably has less to do with the architecture than it does the Old Style.
Ozzie also has an opinion about former teammate Jack McDowell, who had some harsh words in his blog (McDowell has a blog? Really?) for Guillen's treatment of rookie Gordon Beckham:
I know Chicago better than Jack McDowell. I know Chicago better than (Gordon) Beckham. I just try to get fans and media to let this kid alone and let him play the game. It's kind of funny because everyone has their opinion and you think people who know about baseball, all of a sudden surprise you that they don't. When people have little knowledge about the game, all of a sudden you turn around like, 'oh, I guess he don't know (bleep) about baseball.' "
Ozzie Guillen is totally the best.

Guillen is an assclown. Nothing else needs to be said.
A Venezuelan version of the great Casey Stengel. Never a dull moment.
I cringe just seeing Guillen's name.
I'm glad he doesn't manage my team, but I'm really glad that he manages someone's team.
At least he isn't afraid to say what he thinks. Panella is a bitch! The Cubs blow!! White Sox will take that series for sure this week.
You my friend are an idiot. Let's wait and let them play before you run your mouth off. But that the problem with soxs fans they are jackoffs that really don't know much about baseball or anything else.
You are so incorrect dude. They actually did a poll a couple of years ago in Chicago, and White Sox fans knew more about the game than Cubs fans. Don't hate cause someone bashed your adorable little losers. Learn to live with it...
Well yeah the White Sox fans knew more. There are, like, 5 of them or so. Of course they don't have bandwagon fans!
wow, that's soooo terrible. telling the truth about a disgusting ball park. even Joe Crede just admitted that he heard the rats that Guillen was talking about in that park. guillen's never said anything that could be considered over the line. he tells it like it is. everyone would love that from a manager.
I never can understand why people dislike Ozzie. He is often pretty funny and has something like 2 division championships and a world series ring in 5 yrs of managing. Pretty nice resume. Someone needs to explain in detail why he his disliked.
I am a Cubs fan and still like the ChiSox. Ozzie can spout off a little. I think he needs to be more positive to his players. If they play well, compliment them.
It's easy to get frustrated when your team loses. The White Sox may take the series because the Cubs are playing bad. But the Cubs are at home and anything can happen.
Ozzie Guillin was born and raised in the slums of Venezuelen. He decided several years ago to become an American citizen.
I am a die heart Chicago Cubs fan. Both old and new Comiskey Park were derailed by people all over the country. Home plate was even moved up to help hitter hit home runs in that park. Although, Ozzie should be proud of becoming an American citizen. Yet, he is disrespecting fans of the Chicago Cubs that were citizens of this country far longer than he has been a citizen.
I don't mind his efforts to spark the rivilary. Chicago White Sox fans should not forget how he attacked the Chicago White Sox organization when he was released at the end of his Chicago White Sox career.
I and other Chicago baseball fans of both organizations did not like the method in which he was released. Although he played on the other side of town, I respected his playing ability just like I did of former White Sox players like Harold Baines, Richie Zish, Richard Dotson, Steve Trout, Rich Allen, Greg Luzinisi, and other former Chicago White Sox players.
I might be a die heart Chicago Cubs fan, but I respect the Chicago White Sox traditions and those of Major League Baseball. I hope that Ozzie Guillen can do the same for Chicago Cubs fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about this for a reason not to like Ozzie: he trashes every player who leaves his organization. To wit:
When Crede left, he said that they were "not going younger at third base... we went good."
Magglio Ordonez was called a "Venezuelan piece of s---."
He said of Nick Swisher that he "was not happy with the way he was reacting at the end of the season. He wasn't helping me either."
And of course, when Brandon McCarthy left for the Rangers and said that he felt he could relate to their younger clubhouse better, Ozzie said "I really hate him [McCarthy].... We didn't want him in the bullpen, but that was the only spot we had. If Brandon McCarthy thought he was better than the five guys I had, he's wrong.... You played with us 162 games and all of a sudden you leave and say you don’t have a friend in the clubhouse? Only Brian Anderson? Well, he picked the wrong guy to be friends with.... He forgot he lost a couple of games for us. He lost at least five of the 72. We might be in the playoffs without him."
I'm generally tolerant of Ozzie because he's entertaining and seems to get the job done. But you basically have to admit that he's generally a bit of a jackass, the kind of guy you would hate to work with yourself.
No appreciation for the old school ballparks! Wrigley and Fenway are the last of a dying breed. Everything has to be brand spankin' new or else it is considered trash. Where's the nostalgia? My perfect afternoon is being at Wrigley with the sun beating down on my shoulders and an ice cold beer in my hands.
MY pefect afternoon is watching a team that can PLAY. That would
be on the south side!
Guillen is an idiot ! I puke any time I hear the words "white sox" !!! I actually saw another poll that was taken and Cub fans new way more about baseball than sox fans - by a landslide !!! Guillen should just pack his foreign ass and get the %$#(* out of Chicago...he's a jerk, a terrible manager and a disgrace to Chicago baseball. If only he could talk a little more English....but then again...I wouldn't grant someone like Guillen that privilege !!!
One word for all the whiney Cub fans who hate Ozzie - losers! It's just sour grapes. The Cubs did all they could to screw up a decent team in the off season. Milton Bradley? Gimme a break! You guys will never learn.
After living in Chicago for over 40 years, plus being at both parks, I can see why visiting teams don't like it.
Long lines at the piss troughs, $40 buck parking, and a @!$%# to get in and out of.
For all of you who love this place so much.... Take a Cub's Care tour of the stadium. You will see why players hate it. Beyond what you see at a game.
Ozzie speaks his mind, and I respect that in a person. This time, I have to agree with him because I have seen it first hand.
Yeah, Wrigley Field is a nice field to play on, and it might be a baseball icon, but it, like Fenway, is just two steps ahead of the wrecking ball.
What do you people want? This Old House to come in and redo it? Ain't gonna happen!
Can you blame him for what he said about B. McCarthy? What exactly has he done in his career? If you ask me he would be a perfect Cub. I've been to Wrigley and Fenway, and it has nothing to do with my disdain for the Cubs, Fenway is nice, Wrigley is crap; plain and simple. That's the problem with too many Cubs fans, they are in love with Wrigley and not the Cubs. Hey, if you want to go to a ballgame and get wasted off your butt, cheers to ya, but don't embarass yourself by calling yourself a Cubs fan while you are doing it.
