Big Papi is warning Joba Chamberlain to watch where he's throwing:
If young Joba Chamberlain misbehaves tomorrow night, he might face a spanking from someone else's Papi.
With Chamberlain scheduled to start for the Yankees in the opener of a three-game series against the Red Sox, David Ortiz yesterday said the talented right-hander should avoid using Kevin Youkilis' head as a bull's-eye.
"None of that, man -- just play the game the way it's supposed to be, and that's about it," Ortiz said, referring to Chamberlain.
"This is a guy, as good as he is, the next step for him will be to earn respect from everybody in the league. He's not a bad guy, but when things like that happen, people get the wrong idea."
For all of the media overexposure, I'm not as steeped in recent Red Sox-Yankees lore as many of you out there, and as I sit here today I can't for the life of me remember why Chamberlain has decided that Kevin Youkilis is worth brushing back every time they meet. I mean, I hate that godawful goatee he wears as much as the next guy, but that's no reason to brain him.

If Ortiz or Youkilis gets hit, watch Joba get tossed on the spot. Otherwise, the umps just have to sit there and wait for the inevitable retaliation, and they don't like to do that. The net effect is a slightly narrower plate, as Joba has no margin for error thanks to the stupid stunt he pulled with Youkilis last year. No matter what happens, all eyes are on Joba and it will no doubt be a distraction to him throughout the game.

Youkilis' hysterics (arguing strike calls, safe/out calls at first etc) cause other players in the league to be annoyed by him. I don't think anyone hates him - just he's an easy target relative to the rest of the red sox players.
Youk has lost the goatee. He's got a sort of Fu Manchu mustache thing going. I think it's his batting stance and the constant wiggling movements that bother pitchers - which maybe is why he does it.

Ortiz ought to worry more about what was in those protein shakes he was drinking in the D.R. up till a couple years ago. Maybe Joba should throw one at Ortiz' knee instead Of Youklis' head. If you wanna be the big guy and open your mouth...then you need to be prepared to take the heat.

I have a feeling that if the records were checked, more Yankees have been hit by Red Sox pitchers over the last number of years then the reverse. If this is true, then why is Big Papi allowed to shoot off his mouth about his ball players being hit?

The only thing better than the Red Sox winning is the Yankees losing. And of course best of all: losing to the Red Sox. Jeter is poor excuse for an infielder. If Jeter had played anywhere else, he'd never make it to the HOF. Yankee Stadium jr. is a big pig of a place. Give me Fenway or Wrigley any day. Joba stinks. He can't even hit Youklis in the head on three tries. When are the Yankees going to get him out of the rotation and back in the bullpen where he belongs? That's the only place his body will be able hold out long enough to have a career. Too bad this series isn't being played in that farce of a new stadium. Um you guys miss the point, and it's really quite simple. Whether you like the Red Sox or the Yankee's, pitchers are trained to throw the ball at excessively high speeds. It's like a boxer who's honed their punches over years of training. Intentionally throwing at someone's head, is well, pretty obviously attempted murder. It's a game, you can get frustrated and hate the other team without attempting to damage them permanently.
