* Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star has come up with an amusing nickname for the recently renovated Kauffman Stadium, calling the 37-year-old ballpark "The Cougar." I'm really hoping that sticks.

* Baseball America has the official order for June's draft, which includes five first-round picks changing hands from free agent signings. Washington will get first crack at Stephen Strasburg, followed by Seattle and San Diego.

* Evan Longoria of the Rays and Josh Johnson of the Marlins took home the season's first Player of the Week honors. Jeff Suppan placed 750th.

* DeWayne Wise separating his shoulder yesterday has caused the White Sox to sign former leadoff man Scott Podsednik to a minor-league deal. Unfortunately, Podsednik is 33 years old, hasn't been a good center fielder in years, and hit just .247 with a .309 on-base percentage and .354 slugging percentage over the past two seasons.
